As the end of the year is finishing, we all are drawing conclusions about what 2011 has brought to our lives.
Personally, I must say that this year has been full of personal achievements and growth: in March I earned my Master Degree from the University of Macerata, with a thesis on Subtitling for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing in Italy; in November I was informed that I had been admitted to enter a PhD programme at the University of Macerata for which I had applied with a project on Media Accessibility. Plus, I have worked hard and studied a lot and this gave me the chance to meet a lot of new people as well as get in touch with old friends.
In particular, I would like to thank those who supported me through one of the hardest times of my life: my family, my friends and my teachers! I hope that I have made you proud of my work.
Last but not least, in 2011 I have decided to start this new blog! I thank the readers that first appreciated my blog posts as well as the new ones that, hopefully, will come across my blog in 2012.
So, what do I wish for in 2012?
To begin with, I hope I will be able to definitely establish myself as a professional freelance translator. As part of this plan, I will be launching my new website in January 2012.
I am also going to embark upon this brand new journey that is my PhD programme. Hopefully this will bring me abroad, give me the opportunity to meet colleagues and peer students and to broaden my experience in the field of translation and accessibility.
I have got a lot of plans and projects in mind: hopefully I will be able to put them into action and rise to the occasion!
And you, what do you wish for in 2012?
Although I do not know most of you personally, I wish you all a year full of work, health and love from your family and friends.
And don’t forget to come and visit me in the New Year for more blog posting!
“See” you in 2012
